COPING WITH JET-LAG

From Debbie, mother of 2:
* Babies are almost always better than you think they will be on the flight. Large time changes are the real trick, but in two days they’ll adjust.
* If you are staying in a nice hotel, hire their babysitters. We have met some of the best kid people and also received some of our best travel tips from locals who have come to help with our kids all over the world. If you plan ahead, you can arrange to have the same person throughout a week.
From Clarisse, mother of a 7-yr-old girl:
* When my daughter was little, I used to keep her on LA time whenever we took her to the east coast. That way her schedule didn’t change for her, and it was actually pretty convenient for us. She woke up later, so we got to sleep in, and she stayed up for 3 more hours at night so we could take her to fun places.
From Gail, mother of a 2-yr-old:
* Ambien for myself! If I can’t get any sleep, I’m cranky and then no one has a good time on vacation!
