TASTY TALK: CINDY CRAWFORD

When Cindy Crawford and her husband, Rande Gerber, made the decision about five years ago to become full-time Malibu residents, the town definitely sat up & took notice. At the time, most celebrities treated Malibu as a weekend getaway or somewhere to spend their summer vacations.  For those of us who live here year-round, the seasonal arrival of “Hollywood People” seemed to come with the onset of what we call “June Gloom,” that month of marine-layer fog that hangs over Malibu until the 4th of July. As soon as Cindy and her brood moved in though, it was as if they’d been part of the community all along. She sends her kids to public school, hangs out at all of our local spots and is an all-around Malibu girl! Tastybaby recently caught up with the glamorous mother of two...

How would you define your kids' styles?
My kids' style: Presley-- totally Malibu. Long hair, skinny jeans and skateboard sneakers. Kaia's style is eclectic and she loves clothes. A little bit funky and definitely not preppy!

What’s your favorite family meal?
I think pasta with the turkey meatballs and sautéed broccoli on the side is always a big hit with our family. Also, we love meatloaf with mashed potatoes and green beans. I, of course, avoid the potatoes!

What’s the best gift you can give your children?
I think the best gift you can give your children is unconditional love. I am fortunate enough to have been given that by my own mother!

What sports & activities do you enjoy with your children?
As a family, we love spending time on the beach-- there's always something to explore!

What’s your favorite thing your husband does with your kids?
My favorite thing that my husband does with the kids is all the things I don't really enjoy doing-- getting in the cold ocean, wrestling, dirt biking.

What trait do you hope your kids DON’T inherit?
I hope my kids don't inherit my perfectionism. I work hard at accepting that sometimes it's OK to just be good enough!

What’s the Tastiest thing about your children?
The Tastiest thing about my kids is their infectious laughs, especially now as they mature and develop their own senses of humor.

Who I Am*

I always knew I wanted a family. I love being a Mom even more than I thought I would. I'm not a party girl.
I wake up early.
I go to "Mommy and Me," and the supermarket and the playground.
I love to read - mostly fiction.
I hardly ever look at fashion magazines.
I'm not bad at bowling - I actually had it in high school gym class.
My husband thinks I'm a good cook.
My favorite vacations combine beach and family.
Christmas is my favorite holiday. I know how lucky I've been.
