There’s nothing tastier than when a mom has a green awakening. Below, Contributing Writer Debbie Fisher shares her own new commitment to making a difference. We like to think of it as the moment the figurative “lightbulb” – fluorescent, of course! – lit up in her head!

Give the curl a whirl and save some energy!
TASTY CHALLENGE: PROJECT GREEN LIGHT

- Debbie Fisher, Contributing Writer
I consider myself a strong environmentalist and an action oriented person. I turn off the lights, unplug my chargers and bring bags to the grocers. I’ve spent time in drought stricken Africa, so even my two year old doesn’t waist a drop of water when he is brushing his teeth. For whatever reason, I have been at a complete standstill on this light bulb issue which is one of the best things each of us can do to help the earth. Maybe the research seemed overwhelming. Maybe it’s because I haven’t made the commitment to Biodiesel either. I am embarrassed to say that I haven’t made the switch yet.
So, in honor of Earth Day, I hopped online, spent a teensy amount of time reading about my options and ordered away. I ordered enough bulbs for at least most of our home from www.fullspectrumsolutions.com and hope I can inspire any of you who aren’t all ready there to do the same. As with so many things, my first thought was how could I possibly have not done this five years ago? So…in case I have friends out there in the same quagmire, I shot out an email to my friends challenging them to do the same. If you feel compelled, please do the same.
Tasty Stats:
If every American home replaced just one light bulb with an ENERGY STAR, we would save enough energy to light more than 2.5 million homes for a year and prevent greenhouse gases equivalent to the emissions of nearly 800,000 cars. (Source: Energy Star)
