THE GREEN TRUCK

There is a whole new meaning to fast food in Southern California. The Green Truck is a company serving healthy and gourmet food in a fast, efficient, and environmental friendly way through the use of a vegetable oil fueled catering truck. There new age menu consists of 100% organic fare such as salads, sandwiches, tuna tacos, and their ever-famous “Mother Trucker” vegan burger. They have taken every measure to ensure that their food is healthy, delicious and good for the planet. As they like to say, they are “healing the planet one meal at a time.
The company was launched in mid-2007 by a former fashion model and derivative trader. They created the first and only sustainable organic food company in Los Angeles. We were lucky enough to catch up with one of the company’s owners and hear more about their “Tasty” endeavor.
What was your inspiration for starting The Green Truck?
"Mitchell and I were inspired by the lack of affordable, organic food and the seemingly obvious ways to do business in a way that is both economically and environmentally sustainable."
Have you always been committed to being “green?”
"No, and it is a continuous learning process for me and Green Truck."
How & why did you first start eating organic?
"Via my kids. The constant advertising to children for food that is patently bad for them is enraging."
How is The Green Truck an extension of your home life?
"I live in a cabin made from reclaimed telephone poles and other material, and of course, we eat primarily all organic food."
How do most people react the first time they experience The Green Truck?
"Support, all of our customers appreciate the length we go to to provide them a good product at a reasonable price."
Do you think that customers are more taken with the food you serve, or with the fact that the truck itself is “green?”
"I think all Americans are fed up with corporate spin and greed. Green Truck provides an honest meal, and people appreciate that."
Have you learned any great tips from your customers?
"Everyday. Being green isn't easy, and our customers provide us tips from composting to cooking to new vendors."

Is The Green Truck more than “just a business’ for you? Do you consider yourself to be “on a mission?”
"Green Truck is among many new companies that have a core ethical foundation as part of doing every business every day. We are collectively changing the way business is done to reflect the desire of Americans today."
What is your hope for the future of how people eat & treat our planet?
"Our desire is that people vote with their dollar by supporting companies and products that have their best interest at heart."
What are your favorite offerings from the Green Truck menus?
"The Mother Trucker, our signature vegan burger."

"The care and love that goes into our product and service. We make everything from scratch with the affirmation that what we do everyday makes a positive difference for our customers and our environment."
