We try to have dinner all together as a family once a week. Shannan comes up with delicious, balanced meals that have something for everyone– from the grown-ups to the kids, and even the babies! During the week we make time for a project with our two girls that will become a part of our meal as table decorations. This is a wonderful way to spend “girlie” time together while learning something and working as a team.

Planet-friendly activities:
A great way to start teaching kids about the importance of preserving our oceans and respecting nature is to play “scavenger hunt”. When you go to the beach or any outdoor public park, bring an extra bag to hunt for any trash or items that don’t belong on the beach. Be sure to watch over them to make sure they don’t pick up anything dangerous or hazardous. Show your kids how they can leave the beach a better, cleaner place than how they found it.
Sea Sighting:
If you’re lucky enough to live near the beach, like we do, schedule time for a shell-seeking expedition. The kids will love finding seashells, driftwood and other natural items. Seeing some of the ocean’s beauty in context can help foster kids’ imaginations and inspire the love to find out more. The idea is to have a fun afternoon with your kids and learn about the sea and its bounty.
