We here at Tastybaby are big fans of any kind of renewable energy, especially the amazing power that comes from wind farms. In case you didn’t know, Tastybaby packaging is printed from a company that derives 100% of their energy from wind power-produced electricity and we think that’s pretty amazing!
THE CAPE WIND PROJECT IS NOT JUST A BUNCH OF HOT AIR

- Renee Gannon, Assistant Website Editor
Being a Massachusetts native who’s now a transplant to California, I still keep an eye on things in my home state. You can imagine I was more than a little perturbed when I saw that The Cape Wind Project was being fought against ferociously by local politicians for all the wrong reasons. Yep, that’s right. There's a storm brewing off the coast of Massachusetts that's threatening the future of wind energy for the entire country. In the face of global warming, there are a few powerful forces giving the cold shoulder to what could be America's first offshore wind farm -- mostly because they believe it would blemish their million-dollar views.
The Cape Wind Project would offset up to 113 million gallons of oil and would be like taking 175,000 cars off the road to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Even though more than 80% of Massachusetts residents support the project, a select few, including Senator Ted Kennedy (whose compound would face the wind farm), are standing in the way of progress and jeopardizing the entire effort.

As they say, “like father, like daughter,” and if there’s one influential person in my life who’s a big advocate of The Cape Wind Project, it’s my Dad, and I have certainly followed in his environmentally-friendly footsteps. When I asked him his thoughts on the current Cape Wind Project issue and the sheer ridiculousness of the local politicians, this was what he had to say:
“In response to all the recent news stories on the Cape Wind Project, it's about time the elected federal officials, both U.S. Senators and all of the U.S. House members from Massachusetts take a hit in the media, along with former Governor Romney, for the lack of support or all out opposition to the Cape Wind Project. They all talk of energy independence, but when it comes down to renewable energy, like wind power, all they do is blow hot air. This project could power 75% of Cape Cod and the islands of Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard.
These politicians, along with a minority of a few coastal land owners on the Cape don't want THEIR view blocked by the wind farm. You would need superhuman eyesight and binoculars to see the wind farm from the beaches. I wonder if these folks care about renewable energy.
Let's hope that the rest of the public can help them see the light and the way of future reliable energy.” – Dave Gannon

My Dad and I aren’t the only ones who care. Greenpeace has recently hit the airwaves and targeted the opposition with television ads aired all across New England. If you haven't seen these ads, check them out
But this fight isn't just local. We all need YOUR help to get Congress on track and make offshore wind a reality. Tell Congress to blow off millionaire complaints and do what's right for the country!
TAKE ACTION!

As we look for ways to combat global warming and increase renewable energy, the answers really are blowing in the wind! We need your help to show even more public support for The Cape Wind Project and renewable energy. Take action and tell the Chairman of the Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming that he should support this visionary project.
