FUN KIDS PROJECTS: ECO-ART BY TINKER
Tinker is a fantastic drop-in arts and crafts studio in Sherman Oaks, California where kids and parents can come in and do projects inspired by recycled materials. In addition to the hundreds of projects they have on-hand, they also offer fabulous classes, workshops and summer camps. We are a big fan of Tinker and took a moment to talk to Leeanna Gant, one of Tinker's co-founders, who provided us with some great gifts for Dad that can be created out of simple household materials.

MAKING A SPLASH FOR CHARITY

- Liane Weintraub, Editor-in-Chief
It’s amazing how gratifying it is to see an idea come to fruition, especially in the unpredictable realm of fundraising events. The vision seems real enough, but there are so many tricky components that have to materialize that it’s usually nearly impossible to fully realize it.

INDEPENDENCE FROM...GUILT!

Guilt – it’s a killer. Almost every ethnicity and religious tradition has its own unique spin on it. I’m especially acquainted with the Jewish Guilt variety. Whatever the particular flavor of your brand of guilt, I’m sure you know what I’m talking about.

INDEPENDENCE FROM...TRYING TO BE LIKE ED BEGLEY

- Colleen Bell, Contributing Writer
I once read that Ed Begley’s weekly garbage output was small enough to fit inside the glove compartment of his car. I also heard that this uber-environmentalist’s house is solar-powered, that he composts his table scrapes, harvests vegetables in his drought tolerant garden, uses only compact fluorescent light bulbs, and has a bicycle hooked up to a

INDEPENDENCE FROM...POLLUTED WATER

- Liane Weintraub, Editor-in-Chief
First-time visitors to Malibu generally have one of two possible reactions:
- They cannot believe that this little unassuming strip of highway is what the fuss is all about;
- They are in awe of the natural beauty of the place.

SHADY LADY

- Liane Weintraub, Editor-in-Chief
Clearly, judging by my obsession with sunglasses, I was born on the wrong coast (the East one), because when I was growing up, no one in New York quite understood my fixation with my favorite accessory. When I moved to the other coast (the West one), I suddenly found myself in a magical land where no one gave me dirty looks for wearing my shades year-round. In fact, in L.A. it’s not uncommon for people to wear their sunglasses well past sundown.
