Everyone on the Tastybaby Team is a huge fan of Angie Harmon.  And it’s not just because she kept us riveted on “Law & Order,” or that she does everything with grace and style … it’s because Angie is the epitome of a “Tasty Girl!”

She loves fashion and has impeccable taste (she’s dazzling even in a t-shirt & jeans and with no make-up!), but first and foremost she is a committed wife and an incredible, devoted mother.  She is a staunch environmentalist and tireless advocate for children’s rights, and her daughters Finley and Avery always come before any acting or modeling job.  Happy Mother’s Month, Ange!

TASTY TALK: ANGIE HARMON

Angie with her daughter at the 5th Annual John Varvatos Stuart House Benefit Presented by Converse

1. What does "family" mean to you?
The word “family” means many things to me. Security, laughter, guidance, & most of all unconditional love.  Family means that no matter what happens, my girls will always KNOW they have jason & myself  to count on, to support them & to point them in the right direction of what is morally & ethically right. Its not always easy to “do the right thing” but it is, ultimately, what makes life the best it can be & a true adventure. Most importantly, it means that they know that they will never be abandoned & they will always come first.

2. What's an ideal Mother's Day celebration?

An ideal Mother’s Day is anything special with the hubs & the girls. Its more like a family holiday then just one for me.  I take that day off completely from the phone, computer, crackberry... Anything that takes my attention away from them. Then we do something that’s fun for them that we don’t normally get to do.  My favorite is the pictures they draw (squiggle is probably more accurate) & how proud they are when they give them to me.  ADORABLE!!

3. I know the environment is important to you.  What's the most recent planet-friendly thing you did?
I try to be a conscientious of the environment as possible.  We recycle everything, I might have been known to go through the garbage to see if anything has slipped past the recycle bin... Gross, I know.  I only buy organic food & wash everything like crazy as some of the natural pesticides that are being used are not tested for toxicity.  I try to do as much as I can but I do feel that it is an uphill battle.  I try to focus on the fact that if each & every one of us to whatever we can, whenever we can, we can make a difference.

4. How do you cope with it when your work takes you away from your children?

I have been extremely fortunate in the area of work & children.  If I go on location for long periods of time, we pick up the whole family & go.  Its a bit stressful at first but its worth all of us being together.  Last week I was in New York for work. I flew home Saturday morning so I could have the weekend with Jason & the girls & then flew back to ny on Sunday night to finish.  Then I flew back home again on Tuesday morning! People looked at me like I was nuts but I was so happy to be @ home w/ the fam... It was completely & totally worth it. I do what I have to in order to make it work out for them.

5. You're a Texas girl.  Does that influence your taste in food?

Being from Texas does have an influence in the food I make.  Lots of comfort food, lots of grilling outdoors in the summers... Paula Dean has become my idol!  I want the girls to remember mommy being in the kitchen making dinner as they played outside w/ their daddy or friends until it was too dark.  We eat as a family at the dinner table every night.  That’s a must!

6. What keeps you up at night?

Worrying used to keep me up @ night.  I had post-partum pretty badly & I would just lie there & think of things to worry about!  It was awful!  Now that its gone, jason & I say our prayers w/ the
girls when we tuck them in, then pray together before we go to sleep & I’m all good!

7. You and your husband are in great shape!  How do you do it?  (And do you ever "splurge?")

As far as staying in shape, jason got me a treadmill which I try to get on once or twice a week.  We actually get a lot of our exercise in doing things with the girls... Going for walks, swimming,
jumping on the trampolene.  It certainly helps that we try to eat healthily.

8. On what occasions are you "wasty"?  (ie: NOT hip, green, planet-friendly)

Wasty?  Well... I drive an suv, & I’m really not budging on that one.  When they come up with the “eco-friendly” SUV, then I’ll check it out.  There are just too many “big” vehicles out there & when I’m traveling with the girls or even alone, I want to be just as big if not bigger.

9. How do you balance "Hollywood" with "Motherhood"?
I balance Hollywood with motherhood by this one rule: if I have an event that night, I do not leave the house & girls all day. If I have to run errands during the day, I do not go anywhere that night.  That alone has really worked out for the family.

10. What's the tastiest thing about your family?

The “Tastiest” thing about our family is the giggles.  Those girls can giggle & squeal with the best of ‘em.  Especially when we chase them through the house... It sounds like there are 20 little girls at a Justin Timberlake concert & they’re all in the front row!  Thank God I have a few years before that happens!!

Mother of 2, Angie Harmon may live and work in Hollywood, but she is a Texas-girl through-and-through.  The Dallas-born ex-model describes herself as “a huge Cowboys fan since high school” and dreams of one day establishing a ranch in West Texas where underprivileged city children can have a true outdoor experience.  Angie rose to fame when she landed the role of Assistant DA Abbie Carmichael on the hit TV show, “Law & Order.”  But the stars in Angie’s life are unquestionably her family, former NY Giants defensive back husband Jason Sehorn and their two daughters, Finley Faith and Avery Grace.
